Tell us about your upcoming album Imprints

Imprints is scheduled to be released in March 2012. [It] is a project I'm extremely excited about. Musically it covers a broad range of styles that have been very important to me in my life and that have influenced me greatly.  It's a collection of originals and covers in which each song, like a vignette, has it's own identity and emotion, and comes together to create a very enjoyable listening experience.

Who or what has been your greatest inspiration?
New York City inspires me to no end.  There are so many interesting, and talented people in this town who consistently inspire me to grow and develop as a musician and as a person. Sometimes it's a fellow musician who sounds amazing and inspires me to keep developing; sometimes it's a work of art or a film that touches me emotionally; sometimes it's a conversation with someone from a different walk of life who offers a different perspective; sometimes it's a meal at an incredible restaurant.  There are so many rich experiences to be had in New York, and from them, so much to be gained.

In which direction do you plan to your work in the future?
I have the broad goal of continuing to develop instrumentally and musically, as a trumpet player and composer, and I would like to get more involved in teaching.  I enjoy being able to play professionally in many different genres and situations, and I want to continue to have that be a major aspect of my career, but with the release of my new album I'm aiming to perform more with my own projects and develop my band.
